POSITION
Summary:
Working closely with a Senior Machine Operator, the Machine Operator (Trainee) will work in a hands-on capacity operating machines that weave wire strands into chain link fencing.
Upon successful training, the trainee will independently operate the machines and earn a pay increase.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND
Responsibilities:
Is a Merchants Metals safety champion in every activity.
Proactively identifies potentially unsafe situations and immediately resolves and/or raises awareness to the appropriate individual(s).
Learns and demonstrates an in-depth understanding of weaving machine lockout tagout procedures.
Learns, then independently operates manufacturing production equipment that converts wire strand into chain link fence.
Observes weaving machine counter and removes rolls of woven chain link fence material from weaving machines.
Closely follows length specifications.
Palletizes rolls of chain link fence for storage and/or shipping.
Reads operating instructions and sets up weaving machines as required to run different chain link product sizes.
Performs basic maintenance and quality checks on machinery.
Records number of fabricated rolls.

30am RequirementsNECESSARY SKILLS, BACKGROUND & COMPENTENCIES:
Prior experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
Prior experience and knowledge of machine tooling preferred but not required.
Willing and able to stand for long periods of time in a non-climate-controlled environment.
Willing and able to work at a fast pace.
Willing and able to frequently lift up to 50lbs continuously.
Must be able to understand work written instructions and follow procedures.
Must be willing/able to work overtime as required.
