Production Supervisor
POSITION PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Supervisor provides leadership and direction through strong communication and teamwork for the activities of the assigned production crew to safely achieve production goals within cost standards and demonstrate a commitment to quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
o Manage, measure and improve the manufacturing processes and production flow through the use of continuous improvement tools.
o Drive fully compliant use of ERP modules in collaboration with Engineering, Purchasing and Finance through data and transaction accuracy.
o Monitor the production operation and product quality, directing efforts as necessary in order to meet production goals and improve quality.
o Identify, develop, and monitor production measurements. Recommend and implement production measurement improvements. Utilize and manage through the use of Goal Deployment and the Visual Management System.
o Ensure that company policies and procedures are being followed.
o Identify ongoing training needs for production team and assist with developing and implementing the required training.
o Ensure that appropriate safety and ergonomic processes and methods are being maintained and improved in the production area. Identify needs relating to improvements in safety/ergonomics and assist in developing and implementing solutions to these issues.
o Review and monitor production schedules to determine requirements for completion of job assignment. Assist production teams with establishing priorities, and develop staffing plans and shipping dates.
o Responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing ideas for improvements through team wide Lean/Kaizen activity in productivity, safety, quality, and cost reduction.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
o Ability to engage and lead a cross-functional team towards a desired outcome.
o Strong change management skills to include the practical implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts.
o Strong leadership, communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
o Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to organize and plan use of time and people effectively and efficiently.
o Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and an ERP system.
QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR
Experience:
o Minimum of 10 years of progressive manufacturing experience and responsibilities
o Proven experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing and ERP systems is essential
o Extensive experience in a systems-driven production environment preferred.
o A degree in a technical field is preferred or combination of skills and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
o Must be able to use normal office equipment (scanner, printer, copier, computer).
o The work performed is conducted in a climate-controlled facility with moderate noise levels that are within OSHA limits.
o Infrequent travel is required.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
