33 per hour All training hours are paid time POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Program, you will be qualified to perform the duties of a Real Property Appraisal I.
The duties of the position are:
? Perform standard field listing and assessing duties; appraises residential dwellings, farm, and vacant properties, and building improvements such as pools, piers and storage buildings; determine exterior dimensions of buildings, including the foundation, exterior walls, type of roofing, number of bedrooms and baths, finishes, types of HVAC, etc.
; determines functional and physical depreciation of the structure; photographs properties, documents field measurements and enters property information into tax appraisal software.
? Makes decisions as to the quality and construction details of the property being assessed to maintain consistency within neighborhoods; appraises properties by giving the structures or land a fair and consistent evaluation of the market value for tax assessment.
? Prepares tax cards for entry into the computer system, making sure the field work needed is legible, complete and the market factor is consistent with other properties in the neighborhood.
? Works land splits in assigned area of the county, appraising subdivisions and tracts of land newly split among owners; reappraise land affected by rezoning, changing economic conditions or other factors affecting market value.
? Analysis properties that sold to verify tax data is accurate.
? Works with property owners to attempt to resolve any appeals before going to the Board of Equalization and Review; researches and compiles information substantiating values and defends appealed values before the Board.
? Communicates with property owners during the appraisal process; answers questions from taxpayers, attorneys, appraisers, real estate agents and others regarding question about real property tax values, sales, location etc.
? May assist with duties of the Present-Use-Value program.
Duties may include reviewing applications for eligibility; performing on-site reviews, verifying requirements for present-use classification and calculating deferred taxes.
?
